Seen from above, the stair reads less as carpentry than as geometry made physical: fumed American White Oak treads fanning outward from a sculpted center, each one a wedge cut to its own dimensions, no two alike. This is where flooring craft is tested most severely. A straight run forgives; a spiral does not.

Every tread tapers from a wide outer sweep to a narrow inner point, and each must land dead level while following the curve, a matter of templating, precise milling, and fitting board to plaster with no trim to conceal the seam. The wood meets the winding balustrade edge-to-edge, tolerances measured in fractions.

The grain is left honest: rift and quartered figure, subtle mineral character, a matte natural finish that keeps the oak pale under the stairwell's soft light. The result rewards the one vantage every visitor eventually takes, the look down.
