Most floors in collectors' residences are asked to recede. This one was asked to participate. The interior designers built the entry gallery around a palette of warmth and the floor was conceived as part of that composition: a field of color in its own right.

We specified wide Bubinga planks, a naturally warm-toned hardwood prized for its depth of color. Each board was hand-selected so the amber and russet tones remained consistent along the full length of the gallery, with a tight, even grain that allowed the floor to read as a single continuous surface. A custom finish was refined through repeated sampling under the room's own lighting until it belonged effortlessly within the palette. That level of selection is slow work. It is also the difference between a floor that harmonizes with a red wall and one that argues with it.
